A blessing and consecration ritual should be used for all witchcraft tools before they are used for ritual or casting spells. The blessing and consecration ritual should be undertaken on the night of a full moon. If you are new to witchcraft it’s a good idea to gather a few items in preparation and then undertake the blessing and consecration ritual during one ceremony. That way you don’t have to wait a month in between each ritual!
You will need the following:
- White candle
- A small bowl of water
- A small bowl of salt
- Incense
Blessing Ritual
Make yourself comfortable on the ground and place all of the items in front of you.
Light the candle and incense
Breathe deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth, focusing on the flame of the candle.
Visualise a ball of light in your abdomen that stretches down through your body and connects to the earth. Visualise it spreading out when it hits the ground like the roots of an ancient tree.
As you breath out focus on expelling negativity from your body and as you inhale focus on inhaling positive energy.
Pass your tool through the smoke of the incense and say “With scented air light and free, I give you breath. Blessed be.”
Pass your tool through the candle flame (obviously being very quick and cautious with anything made of wood or flammable materials), and say “ With dancing fire wild and free, I give you passion. Blessed be.”
Sprinkle some water on your tool and say “with water pure I give to thee, the blood of life. Blessed Be”.
Sprinkle some salt on your tool and say : Salt of the earth I give to thee, roots in magic. Blessed Be”.
Consecration Ritual
Cast a circle.
Pick up your tool (if doing multiple items do them one by one following each step for the first tool and then start with the next), and state “ I have chosen this {insert tool name here} to assist me in my work”.
Visualise the tool being cleansed and cleared of any negative energy.
Visualise a strong white light flowing through you down your arm and into the tool.
Point the tool to the north and say “May the powers of earth cleanse and fill this {insert name of tool} I have chosen. In the names of the Goddess and God I bless and make this {insert name of tool} sacred to my craft. I charge this {insert name of tool} with the element of earth.”
Sprinkle some salt on the besom.
Point the tool to the east and say “May the powers of the air cleanse and fill this {insert name of tool} I have chosen. In the names of the Goddess and God I bless and make this {insert name of tool} sacred to my craft. I charge this {insert name of tool} by the element of air.”
Pass your tool through the incense smoke.
Point the tool to the south and say “May the powers of fire cleanse and fill this {insert name of tool} I have chosen. In the names of the Goddess and God I bless and make this {insert name of tool} sacred to my craft. I charge this {insert name of tool} by the element of fire.”
Pass the tool through the candle flame.
Point the tool to the west and say “May the powers of water cleanse and fill this {insert name of tool} I have chosen. In the names of the Goddess and God I bless and make this {insert name of tool} sacred to my craft. I charge this {insert name of tool} by the element of water.”
Sprinkle some water on the tool.
Hold the tool up above your head with both hand and say “This tool is now ready. It has been consecrated and charged to assist me in my work. So mote it be”.
Close the circle.
